Finding Your Own Spirituality Without Religion

There has been a shift from organized religion to spirituality over the past several years. This is commonly referred to as the SBNR Movement (Spiritual But Not Religious). This can best be seen in the frenzy of the religious right to regain control of women and their values regarding premarital sex and abortion.

Younger women have become dissatisfied with organized religion. That’s why they are turning to spirituality. I have looked at several definitions of spirituality before landing on my own.

Spirituality involves the recognition of the soul through a mindful or sensory experience and the understanding that our soul is directly connected to God, our ancestors, angels, and spirit guides and that we are born with the ability to connect to the universe.

Spirituality is not a religion in the way we view Protestants or Catholics. Anyone can train with a master-level teacher and learn which spiritual modality is the easiest way for you to interact spiritually.

When I first began my training, I began with reading tarot cards. Many people start this way. I became frustrated with what I felt were the limitations of this modality. I could not get clear answers to the questions, which allowed me to give clients the best answers. So, I went looking for a better technique and came across reading the Akashic Records. This is a much harder modality and required learning mediumship to be successful. I had not trained in this area because it scared me. Once I opened the door to serve as an intermediary for others to speak through, I would not be able to control that access and would be exposed to dark entities. But that was just my old Christian beliefs popping up. By understanding how to shield myself properly, I could open up to the universe of information. I could give my clients much more detailed answers, link them to loved ones who had passed over, and be a part of this glorious connection.

As a teacher and a healer, I learned that I needed to train in different modalities, as some provide better help than others depending on the client’s need. For example, when someone is blocked, it’s best to start with my shamanic training. I begin by working with their chakras to see if they align and whether certain ones need clearing. Based on my client's issue, I can usually tell which chakra is causing problems. I will work to clear the chakras. This work is similar to what a chiropractor might do on the body, but I am working with the soul. Some problems or questions might be deeper, and I usually turn to the Akashic Record for answers.

What is fundamental to understand is that I’m not trying to convert someone to a particular belief system. Rather, I am awakening the connections people are born with and showing them how to use their gifts to connect to the knowledge of the universe. Religions want to control your spiritual relationship and make you pay money to have it. While I may take a professional fee for teaching you how to open the door, the spiritual connections you make are your own.

And let me leave you with this last important point. When we work spiritually, we raise our vibrations to the level of the universe. The more people who are working to raise their vibrational levels, the more we will improve our planet. Raising our levels requires universal love and it's through that love that we will begin to treat each other and our planet with kindness and compassion and thus create a better world.
